About This AP Chemistry Score Calculator
This free AP Chemistry Score Calculator estimates your final AP score (1–5) using the official College Board scoring structure. It includes per-question FRQ breakdown — unlike most calculators that only ask for a total FRQ score — giving you a more accurate prediction and identifying exactly which questions are dragging your score down.
AP Chemistry Exam Structure (2025–2026)
The AP Chemistry exam has two equally-weighted sections:
- Section I – MCQ (50%): 60 questions in 90 minutes. Completed digitally in the Bluebook app. No calculator allowed. No wrong-answer penalty — always guess!
- Section II – FRQ (50%): 7 questions in 105 minutes. 3 long FRQs (10 pts each) + 4 short FRQs (4 pts each) = 46 raw FRQ points. Calculator allowed. Questions viewed in Bluebook, answers written on paper booklet.
Both sections are scaled to 50 points each and added for a composite out of 100.

AP Chemistry Tips to Improve Your Score
- MCQ: No calculator allowed — practice mental math and estimation. Answer every question; no penalty for guessing.
- Long FRQ: Show all work — partial credit is awarded for correct setup even with wrong arithmetic. Each long FRQ is worth 10 points and carries the most weight.
- Short FRQ: Be concise and precise. Answer exactly what is asked. Include units and significant figures.
- High-yield topics: Intermolecular forces, acids/bases, equilibrium, electrochemistry, and thermodynamics appear most frequently.
- Formula sheet: A periodic table and formula sheet are provided for both sections — memorize where key formulas are located.
