About This Semester Grade Calculator
This free Semester Grade Calculator computes your weighted course grade instantly. Add your grading categories (homework, quizzes, tests, midterm, final), enter each category's weight and your current score — and get your overall semester grade, letter grade, and what you still need on remaining assignments to reach your target.
It works for both college and high school courses. Use the quick-start presets or create your own custom categories to match your syllabus exactly.
Enter your target grade in the "What grade do I need" box — the calculator shows the exact score required on ungraded work. If it shows above 100%, your target is mathematically impossible with remaining assignments.
Multiply each category's score by its weight percentage, then add all results together. For example: Homework (30%) at 85% + Tests (40%) at 78% + Final (30%) at 90% = 25.5 + 31.2 + 27.0 = 83.7%. This is your weighted semester grade.
The calculator shows a warning if your weights don't total 100%. You can still calculate — it will use proportional weighting (dividing by the sum of entered weights). However, for the most accurate result, make sure your weights match your syllabus exactly and total 100%.
